Unique programs at Palmer in the gym

The maybe odd activities in the gym at R.C. Palmer
Selena - RCP Newspaper
R.C Palmer is a relatively normal secondary school. However, some people aren't familiar with some of the concepts of the activities that take place in our gymnasium. While not entirely outlandish, they are not common practice in some other Physical Education courses, which is why they could probably use some explaining. The following are some of these activities.

RUN WALK PROGRAM
The Run Walk program is a recurring program in which students must alternate between periods of walking and running dictated by a beep which paces them throughout the activity. This substitutes the more well-known Physical Education activity, The Beep Test.
DANCE PROGRAM
Not to be confused with the optional club, the Palmer Dance Team, this is a required program in the Physical Education course from grades 8-10, in which students need to choose a song, learn dance moves, and choreograph their own dance routine to perform in front of their fellow classmates.

P.E. BASKETBALL

P.E. Basketball is a course that can be taken in substitution of the regular Physical Education course, where the curriculum is purely centred on basketball and learning how to pace yourself on the court with various techniques and skills needed to play basketball.
This is not to say that Palmer is the only secondary school that has these programs in Physical Education, but they are certainly not common among all secondary schools, which gives Palmer something a little more to be prideful about! Palmer is a very inclusive and diverse school, celebrating uniqueness across all aspects in life and academically.
