Being active brings a multitude of benefits to our lives. Mr. Dhari, one of the Physical Education teachers at Palmer, detailed in an interview that he motivates his students by getting them to understand the benefits that come with participating in fitness activities. He went on to list a few:
Firstly, being active is great--essential--for your physical body. Exercise induces good blood flow, delivering needed nutrients to your brain to function. This improves brain health. It helps with managing weight as well, to maintain a healthy physique throughout your entire life.
Moreover, because of the blood flow increase, your oxygen levels are raised which helps lower your risks of heart diseases like the following: high cholesterol, coronary artery disease, and heart attacks.

In addition, it improves your mental health. It can ease anxiety because exercising makes your body release endorphins and serotonin, "feel-good chemicals", that help improve your mood. In that same vein, it's a great way to deal with stress, giving you something to do and focus on while improving your physical stature. It's also a form of self-care, taking care of your body by training it to boost your endurance. Having increased endurance means more energy for daily tasks, workouts, and even just getting through the day. By working out, you improve your overall body--mind and physique alike-- and create a more active and present "you" in the world.
