HOW HOME ECONOMICS IS IMPORTANT FOR TEENS
The importance of Home Economics as a class in high school

While Home Economics is not an elective many consider after Grade 9, it is a very important and substantial class that helps you build a sense of self-sufficiency, creativity, productivity and activity in general. This trend of Home Economics becoming inconsequential is from the result of the world becoming digital and general focus for other career paths since the older education days, which is dangerous to both the future of the subject and the future students.
Home Economics is a formative class that helps prepare students from as early as grade 8 for an independent and responsible lifestyle. In Home Economics, the course is split up into two courses. During the first half of the semester, Textiles is the subject of focus in which students explore the world of fabrics, fashion, and its significance. In the latter half, the class moves into the Foods room where they will learn a thing or two about food theory, recipes, and how to create their own meal plans.

The importance of learning how to create in this class, whether it be food or textiles, is that students get to explore what it's like to have the individual freedom of creating while also learning how to be self-sufficient and provide for themselves. To create something meaningful that they're passionate about, which also happens to be usable. This is introducing innovation, to impressionable students who are learning how to navigate the world when they are out of high school. Home Economics in high school is detrimental to these students, and sets them up for a successful life full of passion and expressiveness.
