At R.C. Palmer, art studio is a widely popular elective among the younger students who are just getting into taking hold of their own education. Because of this, there are various art teachers who are happy to educate on the creative form. One of these teachers is Ms. MacDonald, a passionate art and yearbook teacher who introduced her classes and the newly named mascot of Palmer.

With the new school year, there's been the usual influx of younger students who have the option to pick minimal electives between Drama & Art, or Band. Ms. MacDonald shared that the 8th graders in her art class named the unnamed griffin, "Griff". The willingness to participate in this class is already recognizably enthusiastic!
Speaking of, she also mentioned that Griff would be highlighted on the school bulletin board as to introduce him to the main public of students.

As stated, Ms. MacDonald also teaches a yearbook course which is designed to teach students the elements of media, graphic design, the production of a yearbook, and the like. It ties the creative expression of visual art with the business aspects of creating a product together and is just another way of including an artistic medium with something more modern. They often have themes to add throughout the book, like how last year's theme was food, and so they created a vending machine cover. The upcoming yearbook's theme is a mystery, both literally and figuratively as Ms. MacDonald hinted to something "mysterious" along with a toy magnifying glass.

Another one of her classes has gotten started on three-dimensional projects, similar to the one visualized, but slightly different. They are working on creating three-dimensional buildings with paper and the like.
Lastly, her other class has been designing their own custom watches. Ceramics are also often involved at least a little in every semester to broaden their use of different materials and play around with the different mediums of art.
In short, all of Ms. MacDonald's classes have an abundance of different projects and fun experimental works to be made in the coming years, and we will have opportunities to see them during Spotlight on Palmer in January, so stay tuned!
